THE over-50s are now Britain's most regular drinkers, a new study has revealed.

Four in 10 people of all ages admit to drinking alcohol a few times a week.

But despite the stereotype of binge-drinking 20-somethings, the most frequent drinkers are the over-50s, according tooOpinium Research.roAbout 44 per cent of those over 50 like a tipple a few times a week, compared to less than a third of those in their 20s.

Men are more prolific drinkers than women and the most boozy region is the north-west of England with 45 per cent drinking a few times a week.ep.
